100 years of dance

Through out time, dance has evolved and changed in many different ways, even in the past 100 years. One hundred years ago, dance was a lot more proper but as time goes on it is becoming more relaxed with less rules.

Here is a timeline of how dance has changed over the past 100 years:

1910-RAGTIME.
The most well known ragtime dance are the Waltz, Tango, and Fox Trot which is a strict partner dances.
1920-SWING
The 20's where known for being the time of the flappers. This was also the start to swing dancing and dances such as The Charleston.
1930

Swing started to evolve into different styles such as the Jitterbug and Lindy Hop. This is an example of Lindy Hop. It has a lot of fast movements and stunts.

  1. I knew there were many different types of dancing but I didn't realize there were this many. How many of these dances do you think people still perform?

  2. wow this was really interesting. I haven't really been that into dancing, mostly because I don't know much about it. But by cataloguing all of the dances that you have I can see that there are so many things that I don't yet know about dancing. Dance on my friend, dance on.
